Dr. Plover’s work applies his training in nursing, public health, research, education, and entrepreneurship to generate systems-level societal impact.

His experience working clinically on a medical-surgical unit revealed operational challenges that burdened nurses, decreased care delivery efficiency, and negatively impacted outcomes for both nurses and patients. To address these and other healthcare system challenges, Dr. Plover secured funding from several organizations, including the National Science Foundation, to conduct research and develop an entrepreneurial venture innovatively applying machine learning and artificial intelligence.

In his role as a postdoc, Dr. Plover will conduct research, support undergraduate and graduate students, collaborate with clinical partners, develop innovative products, and work to advance an evidence-based vision for a more interdisciplinary academic community driving forward convergent research for transformative societal impact.
