Initiatives for the College of Engineering

Sustainable Engineering Laboratories

This state-of-the-art facility will inspire and support sustainable engineering and inclusive design and provide a testbed for new clean energy and grid technologies. It will be the first LEED platinum, net carbon zero building on campus.

Research and curriculum support

Collaborative, real-world experiences are essential for rising engineers. We promise to increase research opportunities and introduce new courses to meet the needs of current and potential students.

Scholarships and student aid

Diverse backgrounds create effective engineers. Endowed scholarships will help us ensure that engineering students with varied perspectives can concentrate fully on their studies.

Endowed professorships

UMass seeks to add endowed professorships to recruit and retain top scholars in key areas, including biomedical engineering, energy transition, robotics and automation, sustainable materials, environment and water resources, AI engineering, and quantum information systems.

Project spaces for student innovators

A student design/build team facility would provide a dedicated spaces for interdisciplinary, competitive teams, such as the Super Mileage Vehicle team, the Minuteman Rocket team, the Aeronautics Team, the Steel Bridge team, and many others.

Name the college

A transformational naming gift will provide the resources needed to accelerate the College of Engineering's progress towards becoming a top 25 public engineering school. Such an investment will create a lasting legacy, making the donor's name synonymous with engineering excellence at UMass Amherst.

“As impressive as our accomplishments have been, we have few of the material advantages our peers can claim; just imagine what we could achieve with additional funds—endowed professorships, faculty fellowships, and facilities that drive discovery and enrich experiential learning. ”
